The hosts of
Althoff St. James's Hotel & Club

Today, we are delighted to introduce you to one of our hosts at the Althoff St. James's Hotel & Club - Yubin Park, the new Front of House Manager. Discover his insider tips for your next trip to London.

Welcome Yubin, it’s wonderful to have you join the team here. Tell us about yourself and your hospitality journey.

Yubin Park I am delighted to join the Althoff St. James’s Hotel & Club as the Front of House Manager.

I moved to London in 2016 after graduating from a hotel university. I started my hotel career as a Receptionist at Marriott Park Lane. Whilst working there, I progressed to be a Night Auditor and then a Night Manager through internal promotions. After leaving Marriott Park Lane, I worked as an Assistant Reception Manager at the boutique hotel - Stafford London.

The working experiences I had in different positions were valuable and beneficial to my development and growth in my hotel career.

Before joining the Althoff St. James’s Hotel & Club, I was a Senior Guest Relationship Manager in the Capital Hotel. Subsequently, they offered me a Restaurant and Bar Manager position, enabling me to gain insights and understanding of the food and beverage department in the hotel industry.

Being highly committed to hotel management, I aim to become a General Manager one day. In addition, I enjoy meeting international guests from various cultural backgrounds and making discoveries through interactions.

What would you describe is the spirit of the Althoff St. James’s Hotel & Club hospitality?

YP I am glad to be the Front of House Team leader here at the Althoff St. James’s Hotel & Club, a fantastic team formed by international colleagues from different parts of the world. We very much enjoy working together in this multi-cultural working environment. Through learning from each other and embracing the cultural and language differences at work, we equip ourselves with a more comprehensive range of skills and knowledge.

Thanks to the pandemic being over; it is the perfect time to start a wonderful journey to evolve the Althoff St. James’s Hotel & Club’s hospitality.

I have been building my Front of House Team by recruiting new members and offering them training to develop essential skills to ensure all our guests are impressed with the exceptional service at the very first moment they arrive.

Our team, with friendly and enthusiastic spirits, is excited to greet every guest arriving at the reception and happy to fulfil their needs while staying. We are professionals yet remain curious to know the outside world. So guests are always welcome to contact our front-of-house team members anytime, whether about sharing their wonderful life memories or inquiring about the recommended eateries or attractions in London.

What do the front-of-house team really recommend to see or do in London – any secret tips?

Our front-of-house team voted Notting Hill as the most beautiful hidden gem in West London. These charming rainbow-coloured houses on Portobello Road are lovely to see and take pictures with. Within the neighbourhood, many small boutique stores sell interesting aged British furniture and accessories.

Moreover, many individually owned small bakeries and cafes offer delicious food and drinks that make your day fantastic. Steps away from Notting Hill, my favourite pub is The Churchill Arms, decorated with an avalanche of flowers during the summer. It is an enjoyable place to spend your afternoon and walk around.

Kind regards,
Yubin
