The Explorer
For decades, Frankfurt has been the point of departure for travellers and adventure seekers who have travelled the world from here. Little is known, however, that the famous cartographer Ernst Georg Ravenstein was also born in the metropolis on the Main.
At the time, the Speyer family's banks helped to open up the world by financing the Southern Pacific Railroad, the London Tube, the infrastructure of the new Cuban Republic and important railway lines in Mexico, Brazil, Bolivia, Ecuador and the Philippines.
In honour of this commitment, we have created ‘The Explorer’ suite. Globetrotters and cosmopolitans will find a curated collection of travel artefacts here: from art and furniture to exotic objects from all over the world. A tribute to wanderlust and the spirit of discovery. And a retreat for all those who are at home when travelling.
